Position Overview:
The Industrial Safety Engineer applies knowledge of safety regulations and sound occupational safety principles to support all aspects of the BWSR, LLC overhaul and construction operations. He/she identifies, interprets, and implements safety and health requirements as appropriate for assigned tasks. This shall be accomplished by participating in project development activities, reviewing drawings and plans, and conducting walk-downs of work locations. The Safety Engineer will evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of functional requirements and provide feedback to management regarding the effectiveness of the requirements, and whether they meet applicable regulations and contractual obligations. In conducting these safety functions, the Safety Engineer is expected to apply advanced industrial safety concepts and techniques, develop and apply innovative solutions to complex problems, act independently to uncover and resolve problems, contribute directly to achieving significant company objectives, and serve as an advisor to management. The Safety Engineer will be involved in a broad range of safety and health topical areas associated with refurbishment and construction activities.

On-site at the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) in Idaho Falls, ID
Your Day to Day as an Industrial Safety Engineer:
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate safety hazards through the application and development of advanced industrial safety techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate how effectively line management implements safety requirements and programs.
- Conduct self-assessments and safety observations.
- Provide technical support to line management regarding implementation of safety requirements, principles, and concepts.
- Assist in developing project/task-level procedures to ensure that applicable safety requirements are identified and integrated into the associated work documents.
- Support the Safety and Health Manager as requested and provide safety leadership and consultation to coworkers.
- Analyze data related to accidents and near misses. Assist management and employee safety team members with accident investigations and in determining root causes.
- Assist with administration of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor work activities to ensure employees are following the task work document and the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Perform other safety-related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Engineering/science degree plus 5-10 years relevant experience.
- CSP or CIH certification is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize job duties and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written skills to effectively communicate with employees, supervisors and customers.
- Strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers.
- Previous experience in the nuclear or radiological field is desirable.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen - no dual citizenship.
- Must obtain and maintain a DOE "L" security clearance - current clearance a plus.
- Must obtain and maintain appropriate radiological controls and other necessary qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CSP or CIH certification.
- Current DOE security clearance.

Pay: $76,000 - $119,000
The base salary range for this position in Idaho (US-ID) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
