BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Finance Analyst for the Technical Services Group division! This is a remote work opportunity.
The ideal candidate is an action oriented finance professional with a proven track record in accounting, financial management contract management, problem solving, and analysis in a government contracting environment. Candidates must have the capability to perform transactional duties such as billing and financial reporting as well as planning, forecasting, leading project teams and performance analysis on multiple government contracts. This role requires proficiency in government contracting, including Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Regulations, project accounting, earned value, billing, business systems analysis, workflow analysis, contract management, billing and time reporting.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Group President, corporate staffs, cost center Managers, project teams, contracts team, Accounting Service Center, HR, business development and legal on a daily basis to for planning, budgeting, reporting, process workflow, policies, procedures and financial analysis.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement, makes recommendations and resolves performance issues before impacting financial performance.
- Participates in proposal reviews, proposal development, pricing, project improvements, compliance and cost team reviews.
- Monitors trends and project performance, cash flow, rates, billings and identifies opportunities for profitability improvements.
- Works with project business teams to identify and resolve performance related issues and improve business process workflows, business systems implementation, compliance, and recommends opportunities to TSG management.
- Completes TSG balance sheet analysis and meets corporate reporting requirements including variance analysis and cash flow analysis.
- Prepares and reviews monthly billings for project controls approval and submission to customers. Ensures all supporting backup is compiled, reviewed and included in each bill in accordance with customer contract agreements.
- Posts billings into the general ledger when approved by project controls, monitors payments, and resolves billing related issues.
- Prepares and analyzes weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, budgets, forecasts and Internal Controls.
- Manages business unit internal controls in support of BWXT internal controls framework.
- Completes assigned work that entails balance sheet account analysis, reconciliations, financial statement preparation and special projects that support TSG’s internal control framework.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other related Business field.
- A minimum of twenty (20) years related work experience in government contracting with special emphasis in financial management, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, business process analysis, pricing, project controls, baseline development, modeling with project support and analysis. Direct contract or project experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to function at the transaction level in addition to engaging with executives on broader issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working in government contracting, including accounting, business systems program management, contract requirements and cost accounting standards.
- Demonstrated skill as an excellent communicator with the ability to be clear, concise, and not afraid to reach out to people.
- Demonstrated skill and experience finding solutions and resolving discrepancies utilizing a questioning, inquisitive attitude to maximize performance.
- Must be an energetic, self-starter with the ability to initiate and successfully complete tasks with limited direction.
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Powerpoint and have previous experience with ERP systems (i.e. SAP, Costpoint, Oracle, James).
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Energy (DOE) Clearance.
Pay: $98,000 - $154,000
The base salary range for this position in AL at the start of employment is expected to be between $98,000 and $154,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
