Front Line Manager: Weld (2nd Shift) - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Euclid, OH
Responsibilities:
- Monitor employee attendance and overtime and input into SAP as required.
- Schedule department resources to meet established deadlines.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Maintain records of calibration for shop floor equipment.
- Clearly communicate job expectations and performance requirements to welders/floor personnel. Perform performance evaluations as required.
- Answer employees’ questions and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Ensure area housekeeping is up to expectations.
- Manage/schedule preventative maintenance to mitigate machine downtime.
- Implement and manage departmental goals to assist in reaching company goals.
- Work closely with weld engineering to develop/modify processes to exceed efficiency requirements and optimize welding productivity/performance.
- Work closely with weld engineering to ensure personnel maintain the proper weld qualifications.
- Troubleshoot process, machines, and tools in a timely manner.
- Serve as a liaison between shop floor personnel and management, effectively communicate pertinent and relevant issues to other supervision, engineers, and management.
- Hold employees accountable to company policies/procedures, collective bargaining agreement, productivity, and quality.
- Attend, participate, and lead production and safety meetings as needed.
- Ensure timely availability of required materials for the operations being performed.
- Practice visible leadership on the floor, maximize your time spent on the floor providing technical and administrative oversight of work through observations and surveillance.
- All other necessary duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years professional experience in a similar role.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- Experience in manual and/or automatic GTAW (TIG) welding.
- Working knowledge of heat treat, brazing, NDT, tooling and machining processes applicable to stainless steels and high nickel base alloys.
- Ability to interpret welding symbols and technical drawings.
The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $63,000.00 and $99,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
