Assembly & Test Quality Supervisor - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Euclid, Ohio

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Frontline supervision for Assembly & Test Quality Technicians with the ability to answer and support questions pertaining to dimensional inspection and pertinent contract requirements.
  • Facilitate training for newly hired personnel and provide feedback during training period.
  • Liaison between the customer representatives and management.
  • Ensures workforce is on task; all are working safely and efficiently to meet the operational goal of the organization.
  • Monitors and approves employee's attendance, time charging, and production records in SAP.
  • Ensures all equipment is in working order and available to perform work, submits maintenance requests as necessary.
  • Problem solves and/or troubleshoots Assembly & Test processes, gaging issues, etc.
  • Schedules department resources and manages overtime and weekend coverage to meet the production needs and supports final buyoff activities.
  • Leads departmental safety meetings and participates in audits as required.
  • Facilitates the performance of monthly surveillances to ensure inspections and tests are being performed in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Reviews, approves, and submits confidential history books for customer review.
  • Ensures department housekeeping duties are up to expectations.
  • Surveillance, sampling, and auditing of Assembly & Test activities.
  • Performs weld/braze visual inspections.
  • Compiles and inputs data for various reports and metrics.
  • Performs other quality assurance duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required. A technical certification or Associate's Degree in business is a plus.
  • Must be available for weekends when becomes necessary.
  • Five (5) years minimum experience in dimensional inspection.
  • Previous supervisor experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in defense, nuclear or aerospace industries preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance is required.
  • Thorough understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office package, specifically Word and Excel.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to identifying and solving complex problems.
  • Working knowledge of gauging and other inspection methods.
  • Business Ethics: inspires trust in others, keeps commitments, treats others with respect and upholds organization values.
  • Managing People: Develops subordinates' skills and abilities; can provide adequate direction and feedback.

 

Physical Demands:

 

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk to hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

 

 

 

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
