U-Metal Emergency Services Specialist 3 (Fire Brigade Chief) -- Nuclear Fuel Services - Erwin, TN

 

Summary Description of Job:

 

  • Assigned the lead as program owner of at least two of the Emergency Services program functional areas, including but not limited to, the NFS Volunteer Fire Brigade Program, Pre-Fire Plan program, and Respiratory Fit Testing Program areas including assisting with the development and implementation of program area budgets and administration.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be qualified as Fire Brigade training instructor, Fitness for Duty Program Collection Site Person and other Emergency Services functions.  In addition, remains qualified as a subject matter expert in Industrial Safety function areas (chemical safety, industrial hygiene, industrial protection, ergonomics, scaffolding, fall or general fire protection). 
  • Ensures functional program data is collected, documented, analyzed, interpreted, reported, and maintained.  Interfaces with auditors and inspectors during program review as performed by internal and external auditors and regulatory inspection personnel. 
  • Assumes a role as the authorized delegate for the Emergency Services Unit Manager during their absence for Emergency Services (Respiratory Fit Testing, Fire Brigade functions, etc.) only.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities of Job:

 

  • Assists Emergency Services Manager with assigned routine and special management activities including short and long range program planning.  Provides budgetary input toward the implementation and performance of established budget and cost control activities.
  • Maintains ownership of at least two regulatory required program areas including but not limited to the NFS Fire Brigade Program, Pre-Fire Plan Program, and Respiratory Fit Testing Program.
  • Provides direction and assumes active leadership roles such as authorized trainer with the NFS Fire Brigade (35-45 volunteer employees) to help ensure compliance with NFPA and other regulatory guidance requirements.  Supports emergency response activities as directed.
  • Interfaces with the Medical & Wellness group personnel to ensure an efficient and compliant respiratory fit testing process.  Recognized as a subject matter expert and provides oversight to other group personnel regarding this function.
  • Qualified to initiate and complete work request documentation utilized for the completion of various work activities performed by NFS Maintenance and subcontractor personnel in compliance with applicable Work Management procedures.
  • Evaluates program challenges and develops corrective action and program improvements.  Qualified to support assigned investigations as a team member.
  • Assumes assigned role as an authorized delegate for the Emergency Services Unit Manager during their absence for Emergency Services (Respiratory Fit Testing, Fire Brigade functions, etc.) only.
  • Demonstrates a proficiency with the NFS Purchasing process to include the ability to initiate the CPPR process for acquisition of capital budget equipment and services.  This includes maintaining required functional and calibrated equipment (where applicable) and supplies at sufficient inventory levels for continued operation with minimum of impact or delays to the NFS Plant Operation.
  • Provides oversight and necessary support to the Radiation Technicians (8-10 individuals) normally assigned to support Emergency Services and Industrial Safety functions (respirator cleaning and fit testing process, fire brigade equipment inspection and maintenance, emergency response equipment inspection and maintenance, etc.).

 

Educational Requirements of Job:

 

B. S.  -- Hygiene, Safety, Engineering or Science OR equivalent experience acceptable with at least two years' relevant experience for each year college (i.e. eight years' experience in lieu of a degree).

 

Experience Requirements (Beyond educational or equivalent):

 

With a B. S. degree six (6) - eight (8) years' experience in Emergency Services and Industrial Safety disciplines sufficient to demonstrate the ability to apply technical knowledge to plant situations and requirements. 

 

Grade Level of Job:  7.1

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pay: $77,000 - $116,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $77,000 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
