U-Metal Construction Manager -- Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc.  -  Erwin, TN

 

Summary Description of Job:

Senior level manager responsible and accountable for management of on-site and off-site construction projects.  Supervise subordinate professional personnel, direct and indirect, in the performance of cost estimates, construction schedules, and technical accuracy of capital projects and engineering programs at NFS.  Oversee the construction of capital projects with a cumulative total of $10 to $20 million per year.  Serves as the day-to-day liaison between NFS and the contractors regarding performance of work and safety. Establishes schedules and priorities for work accomplishment based on workload, available resources, criticality of projects, and required completion dates.  Ensure that NFS requirements are met as reflected in pertinent contracts and the contractor's technical proposal.

 

Major Duties & Responsibilities of Job:

1.  Directs all contractor operations on NFS property during capital expense projects.

2.  Oversees Contractor Master Service Agreements and all contractor performance per agreements.

3.  Ensures contractor state licensing and NFS/OSHA training requirements are satisfied and maintained current.

4.  Oversee the services of contracted architects, engineers, and construction firms.

5.  Monitor project spending and work progress to ensure compliance with proposed budget and schedule.

6.  Perform project constructability and schedule reviews during initial project execution.

7.  Effectively communicate with NFS management in regard to production needs and to ensure appropriate support is obtained to meet construction deadlines.

8.  Instill a quality performance attitude in projects teams including satisfying the requirements of regulatory and Quality Assurance Programs.

9.  Provide direction, advice, motivation, evaluation and assist in career development for subordinates within the Construction Group.

10.  Develop and maintain a viable Lessons Learned Program in conjunction with data sharing capabilities.

11.  Administer NFS on-site construction contracts.  Ensure work standards and expectations are clearly communicated to contractors.  Monitor performance to ensure compliance with these requirements.

12.  Monitor the technology and training needs of assigned personnel and adjust as needed to ensure they continue to meet Engineering requirements.

13.  Establishes NFS priority in scheduling contractor services to ensure correct priority with Top Ten List. 

14.  Coordinate efforts with Maintenance Services to ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreement.

15.  Develop work scope for large scale (>$5mil) construction projects.

 

Educational Requirements of Job:

B. S. Degree -- Engineering OR other B. S. degree with 5 additional years' experience in construction or project management.

 

Experience Requirements of Job (Beyond Educational or Equivalent):

With B.S. degree in Engineering, over 10 years' experience in engineering construction or project management with technical supervisory experience OR with B. S. degree other than Engineering and an additional 15 years' experience in construction or project management.  A minimum of 5 years' experience within the nuclear industry either in operations, project management or engineering.  At least 5 years administrative supervisory experience.  Broad working knowledge of radiation protection, material control, and criticality safety required.

 

 

 

Pay: $114,000.00 - $165,000.00

 

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,000.00 and $165,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
