Principal Technical Specialist - Nuclear Fuel Services (BWXT) - Erwin, TN
Summary Description of Job:
Technical responsibility on projects or problems of a unique or controversial nature judged to have potential or known significant impact on major organizational issues or division programs. Technical responsibility for interpretation, planning, execution, and coordination of assignments. Supervision is essentially administrative. Assignments are given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serves as the technical specialist for the division in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for an assigned area of responsibility.
2. In a leadership capacity, plans and directs the efforts on a project or projects of major significance.
3. As in individual contributor, conceptualizes, plans, and executes research or investigations in areas of considerable complexity that may require unconventional or original approaches and sophisticated techniques.
4. May be assigned to develop product or business acceptance criteria, monitoring process yields and trends, leading problem investigations, discovering root cause from possible alternatives, formulating and evaluating alternative cost effective solutions and solution development, documentation, implementation, and follow-up.
5. May be assigned to initiating and conducting process effectiveness review, developing and selecting cost reduction/profit improvement candidates, development, documentation, and implementation of process changes and monitoring the modified process for profit improvement effectiveness and absence of unfavorable side effects.
6. Keeps abreast of new technical methods and developments and customer requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes to existing programs or installation of new programs.
7. Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
Other responsibilities.
Construct, enter, extract, manipulate and present data from a NFS databases, applications such as Excel, Access, and SharePoint. Have an understanding how to utilize database audit tables and how to extract data using report generators or SQL. Extract and present databased data utilizing Power Query, Power BI for Senior Management decision making. Be primary interface with IT concerning modifying and testing the Corrective Action Program (CAP) database.
Education Requirements of Job:
B.S. Degree in Business or Technical Field. Prefer Degree in Information Systems.
Experience Requirements of Job (Beyond educational or equivalent):
Over ten (10) years' of experience since degree. Experience in developing, coordinating, and delivering investigation and corrective action related training. Particular to this position is the added responsibility of maintaining and revising CAP procedures, program documents, managing the feedback process, and customer interaction. Participates in or performs root cause investigations.
Salary Grade:
8.1
Pay: $85,000 - $134,000
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,000 and $134,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
