Planning & Financial Controls Specialist (Capital Projects & Construction) -- Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. - Erwin, TN


Summary Description of Job:


The Planning and Financial Controls Specialist will be the recognized subject matter expert providing planning and financial controls support to programs and projects.  The position will interact with Project and Program Managers and other project team members to monitor, report, and forecast project costs.  The position will also interact with facility personnel to understand proposed projects and assist with the strategic planning of facility projects.


Major Duties & Responsibilities:


1.  Work within and provide guidance on project control processes and procedures to monitor project scope, budget, costs, and schedules, and analyze project trends to support project cost forecasting.

2.  Coordinate the development, submittal, and tracking of funding requests.

3.  Assist in the preparation of monthly project performance reports.

4.  Develop and coordinate project baseline updates.

5.  Assist Project Managers with development and management of purchase orders and analysis of invoices.

6.  Interact with multiple contacts throughout the facility in support project controls.

7.  Serve as a mentor for developing less knowledgeable employees.

8.  Develop innovative solutions to complex problems within established policy.

9.  Proactively recommend process improvements that will increase organizational efficiency.

10.  As requested, update schedules using project management software through interaction with project team members to support planning, integration, execution, monitoring, and reporting needs.

11. Accumulate, evaluate, and document historical schedule data for future development of schedules.




B. S. -- Technical or Business discipline and 5 years relevant experience or advanced degree with 3 years relevant experience or In Lieu Degree Equivalent Experience of 10 years relevant experience.


Experience Requirements of Job:

Over ten years' relevant experience includes Project Management or project controls work in a manufacturing or construction environment.  Project Management experience in other environments such as health care can be considered relevant.  Extensive knowledge of business system software (such as SAP) required.  Experience with Earned Value Management systems preferred.  Experience with Primavera P6 software preferred.  Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and personal computer skills.
