Nuclear Safety Engineer 3 -- Nuclear Fuel Services (BWXT) -  Erwin, TN

 

Summary Description of Job:

 

Performs Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) activities that assure plant operations are conducted in compliance with governmental regulations and license conditions, and in a manner such that a criticality excursion and its consequences will not occur.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and maintains plant NCS procedures and manuals that establish NCS limits and controls on all SNM activities.
  • Reviews proposed facility and equipment modifications and performs NCS evaluations thereon to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
  • Conducts audits to assure compliance with NCS controls, approved procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Investigates and analyzes unusual occurrences related to NCS and recommends changes to make improvements.
  • Develops and presents employee training programs in NCS.
  • Prepares NCS-related license applications and coordinates NCS activities conducted for the plant by outside consultants.
  • Develops and maintains a system of records and reports for documenting NCS-related actions.
  • Reviews governmental, industrial, and technical publications for changes and new information that could enhance the NCS program.

 

Educational Requirements of Job:

 

  • B. S. -- Engineering (Nuclear Engineering preferred)

 

Experience Requirements of Job: (Beyond educational or equivalent)

 

  • Six - eight years' relevant experience in the nuclear fuel cycle.
