BWXT is currently seeking an IT Operations Intern for its Erwin, TN location!

 

The Intern will be assigned to assist the IT Service Center professional staff with providing computer hardware, software, and technical support at the NFS facility in Erwin, TN.  The candidate will be under the direction of the NFS IT Operations Manager.

 

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software (Windows 10, Windows 11, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • iPhone deployment and support
  • Monitoring help desk support requests
  • Providing end user support with various levels of technical and non-technical staff
  • In addition, Intern may assist the local IT staff with a variety of projects

Qualifications:

  • Student must have awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software and some network troubleshooting.
  • Student must have awareness of the PC Industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology.  Interested applicants should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems through additional research as needed.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as providing operating system and application software installations and upgrades.
  • Able to interact effectively with management, staff and other company personnel, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Must be a current Undergraduate or Graduate student in a Computer Science or related program. Other degrees will be considered if other listed requirements are met. 
  • Student must work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer and other break periods.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance is required. 

 Pay: $20.75 - $34.75

 

The starting hourly rate for this position in Tennessee is expected to be $20.75 - $34.75 per hour.  The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
