Engineer 3 -  (Facilities Support Engineering -- Process Ventilation)  -  Nuclear Fuel Services (BWXT)  -  Erwin, TN

 

Summary Description of Job:

Subject to general review by a manager or more experienced engineer, plans and conducts work requiring judgement in independent evaluations and selection of processes and evaluation techniques and procedures. Devises new approaches and substantial modifications of standard techniques.  Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Performs assignments of routine and non-conventional nature.  Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.  Requires instructions only as to general approach and results expected.

2.  Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements.

3.  Must be fully competent in all conventional engineering aspects of required written, oral, and graphic communications.  Must have a full understanding of division and department policies, procedures, goals, process and contact technical requirements; and the needs/roles of the customer and other departments.

4.  Plans, schedules conducts, and evaluates all cognizant areas in part of a major program or all of a moderate program that may include complexities such as conflicting requirements, few precedents or implementing new technology.

5.  Assists in interpretation of technical requirements and training new technical personnel.

6.  Conduct meetings, deal with customer, vendor, and other department representatives, and prepare time and cost estimates.

 

Educational Requirements of Job:

B. S. Degree in Engineering.

 

Experience Requirements of Job (Beyond educational or equivalent):

Four (4) years engineering experience since B. S. degree (3 years with M.S. degree)

 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multifunctional team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

 

 

Pay: $81,000 - $123,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $81,000 and $123,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
