Buyer 2 -  Nuclear Fuel Services -  Erwin, TN

SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

This position is responsible for obtaining materials and supplies at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need.  Carries out broad assignments usually involving the purchase of important items requiring some specialized knowledge and experience.  Responsible for heavier dollar volume of purchase (than Buyer 1).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Procure material commodities at the lowest cost consistent with total quality procurement programs in support of company requirements.
2. Studies market trends, interviews vendor, and recommends sources of supply.
3. Analyzes quotations received, selects, and determines suppliers with whom orders are to be placed and schedules deliveries.
4. Supervises preparation of orders and follows up on orders to ensure delivery and shipment.
5. Recommends uniform standards of specifications for purchased materials.
6. Negotiates material blanket purchase agreements consistent with the needs of the company.
7. Maintains and promotes long term, mutually beneficial and ethical supplier relationships.

Minimum Education:

• B.S. or B.A. in Business is preferable but other degrees at this level may be considered OR equivalent experience acceptable 8 years of negotiating and material management experience required in lieu of degree.

Experience Requirements beyond educational or equivalent:

• Six to eight years purchasing and materials management experience -- specifically varied commodity/material buying.
