Field Technician (Software Developer) - New Graduate


Intech International Inc. is seeking a Field Technician (Software Developer) - New Graduate to work out of their Dundas, Ontario location.


Job Summary:


This position requires approximately 50% travel to Nuclear Power plants with a group of technicians to install, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain custom designed robotic tooling and/or Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) equipment. The remaining time will be spent at Intech’s head office in Dundas, Ontario, performing the following functions:  Computer science related activities such as upgrading in-house software applications, maintaining company I.T. infrastructure, system administration, website development and installation, etc.  Additional training and opportunities will be provided to support Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) inspections.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma in a Computer Engineering Technology (or equivalent) or Degree in Computer Science.
  • 0 - 2 years industry experience.
  • Candidates must have programming or software development experience with ALL of the following:
    • C# (or as a minimum C++)
    • SQL
    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript
    • ASP.NET
  • Candidates shall self-rate their skill level on the above using the online application form.
  • In order to communicate effectively, in English, knowledge of technical report writing is required to produce clear and concise reports and logs.
  • Must submit to, and pass, a security clearance investigation of themselves by Intech’s customers and their security agencies. Security clearance for access to nuclear facilities will not be granted to persons with criminal offences for which a pardon has not been granted or for any other reason deemed relevant by the customer.
  • Must be capable of safely performing physical work while wearing protective equipment such as plastic suits and breathing apparatus. The worker must climb ladders, stairs and carry loads as heavy as 50 lbs.
  • The incumbent will be exposed to radiological, conventional industrial hazards, and confined spaces while working at the nuclear power station. Temperatures can vary widely depending on the area of the plant. Personal protective equipment such as dosimeters, plastic suits, fall arrest harnesses, breathing apparatus, hard hats, safety glasses and work boots must all be worn depending on the hazards present.


Additional Assets (not mandatory):


  • Prior training and knowledge of troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining maintenance equipment including electrical, mechanical and/or electromechanical devices (welding power supplies, control boxes, drives, robotics, etc.).
  • Knowledge in material science, industrial metallurgy, physics, chemistry and industrial methodology related to the field of piping systems is an asset.
  • IT/Networking
  • Welding Experience
  • NDE (Non-Destructive Examination)
