Weld Monitor

Hourly Rate: $34.68 - Fully Qualified (starts at Learner 1: $29.47/hr; Learner 2: $31.21/hr; Learner 3: $32.94/hr)

Position Overview:

We have an opportunity for you to join our production team as a Weld Monitor at our Cambridge, Ontario facility. Each member of our team plays a critical role in BWXT Canada’s success and in ensuring we meet our customers’ quality, cost and delivery expectations. Our employees are considered the best in the industry, and we are proud of the high level of skills they demonstrate every day. Weld Monitors will monitor various materials and processes using standard testing and monitoring procedures, maintain records, and monitor in-house welder certification testing.

Your Day to Day as a Weld Monitor:

 

  • Read and interpret Work Orders, Drawings, Shop Instruction Sheet (SIS), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOP), Quality Control Instructions (QCI), Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Welding Card; identify and verify workpiece material, preheat, interpass requirements and settings.
  • Update electronic welder qualification system
  • Issues weld consumables.
  • File and maintain documents.
  • Closing work orders and performs data entry.
  • Works in a safe manner. Demonstrates good workmanship and practices.



 Required Qualifications:

 

•Previous experience in a heavy manufacturing environment or in nuclear power-related industry.

•Successfully completed a welding program and 1.5 years welding experience as a manual welder having held TSSA or CWB ticket for either all position plate or all position pipe welding.

•Commitment to quality and the ability to work as a positive, effective team member, willing to go the extra mile to ensure we meet our customer expectations.
•Proficiency with computer software.
•Available to work all shifts:
oWeekday days: 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Mon – Thurs) OR
oWeekday afternoons: 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. (Mon – Thurs) OR
oWeekend days: 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours) OR
oWeekend afternoons: 5:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)
