We are recruiting for a Vice President - Operations Strategy position for our facility in Cambridge, Ontario.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Vice President, Operations Strategy will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient operations and growth of the nuclear power segment of the Commercial Operations (CO) division of BWXT. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities that contribute to optimizing operations as well as developing and implementing growth strategies. The role requires strong executive business operations and development leadership and organizational skills, the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of staff, and deep strategic insight into commercial nuclear businesses.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Operations

  • Performance Assessment: Establish high-level key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of operations and strategic initiatives and regularly report progress to leadership team.
  • Performance Improvement: Analyze and monitor operational KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency gains, etc. via the deployment of various operational strategies, including productivity improvement, cost reduction, supply chain strategies, partnering, etc., working collaboratively with operating segment leaders.
  • Growth Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement plans in collaboration with operating segment leaders to ensure sufficient capacities and capabilities to achieve growth plans and objectives.
  • Risk Management: Lead identification and assessment of potential risks to CO’s operations and strategic plans and objectives and develop plans to mitigate, working with Enterprise Risk management and CO leaders.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with CO and Government Operations (GO) segments and corporate functions to leverage internal capabilities to achieve optimal operational performance.
  • Change Management: Assist CO leaders with implementation of changes and improvements in operational processes to achieve goals and objectives.

 

Strategy

  • Market Analysis: Monitor trends in the marketplace and competitive landscape to inform strategic plans and decisions.
  • Strategic Planning: Prepare and lead implementation of strategic plans for the CO business aligning with the organization’s vision and long-term goals.
  • Business Development: Identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities, including partnerships, and new business ventures, working with marketing, sales, and opportunity capture staff.
  • M&A: Working closely with Corporate Development, identify and assess acquisition targets, support diligence, negotiate agreements and oversee smooth integration to achieve anticipated outcomes.
  • Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation with the CO organization, encouraging creativity and the pursuit of new ideas and technologies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Business, or Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with executive-level internal and external leaders.
  • Proven track record in operations or a related role.
  • Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead when necessary.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on process improvement.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing and field services settings.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $165,000 and $217,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
