We are looking for a Technical Specialist for our Cambridge, Ontario location.

 

 

JOB PURPOSE

 

Reporting to the Nuclear Services Design Engineering Manager, the Technical Specialist designs tools for use in nuclear services field work. Provides periodic oversight of project engineers and more junior design engineers and technical specialists.  Interfaces heavily with nuclear services project engineers, component project engineers, field technicians and boilermakers.  Provides advice on designs to junior design engineers.  Seeks input from stakeholders.  Works with fabrication vendors.

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Design tools for field services work

 

  • Create conceptual designs of service tools for machining, welding, inspection, etc.
  • Create design plans and perform design reviews.
  • Seek out stakeholder input.
  • Support tool testing and modifications required during execution.

 

Tooling fabrication

 

  • Create manufacturing drawings for tools.
  • Work with fabrication vendors.

 

Tool Use

 

  • Provide oversight of tool use during field execution, if necessary.
  • Perform work in a nuclear power plant on critical tooling applications.

 

Oversight

 

  • Provide periodic oversight of project engineers and more junior design engineers.
  • Review designs.
  • Provide advice on tool design and use based on past experiences.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Technician / Technologist diploma or equivalent trade-based certification.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a nuclear services environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in machining, welding, or non-destructive examination.
