Source Assurance Manager / Vendor Quality


We are currently recruiting for a Source Assurance Manager / Vendor Quality for our facility in Cambridge, ON.


Reporting to the Operations Support Director, this role is accountable for technical performance of vendors (quality), resource management, projects and compliance.




Technical Performance of Vendors (Quality):


  • Work with internal stakeholders to achieve alignment on quality/ technical expectations for procured goods / services.
  • Ensure vendors have a solid understanding of quality / technical expectations at kick off.
  • Manage the upfront document coordination including the timely resolution of problems / issues.
  • Provide technical oversight during execution.
  • Drive timely resolution of Vendor NCR.
  • Manage the Source Inspection process to ensure compliance to contract and company QA requirements.


Resource Management:


  • Participate in the recruitment process, train and develop staff including management of cost center budgets.
  • Ensure the development and regular review and effectiveness of processes to audit suppliers as well as to ensure that customers are issued appropriate technical documentation.




  • To initiate, plan and develop processes and projects to define and implement quality control practices within supply management in line with BWXT’s policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Plan, lead and coordinate projects that will better integrate / align stakeholders.




  • Ensure work practices conform to regulatory requirements in order to support registrations, product development and manufacturing.





  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering (preferred) OR completion of a three year diploma program in supply management or business administration.
  • Sound knowledge of procurement and project management acquired through 8 - 10 years related experience, ideally in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • 2 - 5 years experience in a procurement or technical field would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of nuclear products would be an asset as would nuclear quality experience.
  • Supplier relationship development experience and proven negotiation skills.
  • Experience in engineering, procurement and operations.
  • Ability to analyze bills of materials and drawings to understand key requirements.
  • Knowledge and direct experience in negotiating contracts and quotations with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ability to integrate technical knowledge with business acumen.
  • Customer focused with the ability to develop effective relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with others as well as independently.
  • Effective team player along with the ability to lead teams.
  • Proven problem solver and committed to thinking outside the box to achieve results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with business related software applications.
