We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Cambridge ON.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing the overall technical, cost and schedule requirements on assigned contracts and customer interface to ensure Company’s resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution. Reporting to the Field Services Project Management Director, this role leads large and complex teams including external partners, interfaces with customers to exchange information and resolve contract issues, and regularly reports project progress to senior management and/or the customer.
Accountabilites:
- For medium and large sized projects; or large projects consisting of multiple contracts or some elements of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) and significant risk.
- May manage new product lines outside of Master Service Agreements.
- Responsible for all project phases including proposal, pre-deployment, execution and close out.
- Expected to work in the field, at remote customer sites, as required. Often for continuous durations up to 3 months.
General Responsibilities:
- Develop bidding strategy for new product.
- Negotiate new terms and conditions for new product.
- Analyzes the requirements with the customer, determines the strategy for the proposal, and develops the execution plan for the project.
- Lead teams comprised of engineering, nuclear engineering, project planners/cost estimators, QA/QC and field operations at nuclear utilities.
- Provide effective leadership through communicating expectations and instilling accountability.
- Direct the overall technical, cost and schedule requirements on assigned contracts, including engineering and field services.
- Interface with customer to ensure that contract requirements are met including cost/schedule reporting, multi-phase design reviews and other engineering deliverables.
- Develop growth opportunities in Field Service business line.
- Take corrective action as necessary to ensure compliance with technical specifications and schedule commitments.
- Develop proposals for Field Service projects and lead technical and commercial negotiations.
- Coordinate subcontracting efforts to ensure that any outsourced work scopes meet all technical requirements.
- Leads negotiation of complex contract changes or claims and resolves of any technical and/or commercial issues with customers and subcontractors.
- Manages change through defined change control process for the assigned process.
- Contributes to improving/developing systems, and with setting project evaluation parameters to improve profitability.
- Defines/designs activities (starting from existing solutions), and roles/responsibilities for team members for unique requirements of the project. Formulates business case in support of deviations and exceptions.
- Complex change management including claim management, bonus/penalty clauses (with significant risk).
Proposal Phase:
- Identify and secure opportunity.
- Develop strategy to win new work.
- Review customer RFP.
- Call and lead proposal kick off meeting.
- Prepare proposal plan and schedule.
- Lead proposal team through the development of the proposal package.
- Lead internal legal, commercial, engineering and operations reviews.
- Lead proposal challenge sessions to ensure winning solution with competitive pricing.
- Prepare package and deliver to the customer.
- Single point of contact for customer questions.
- Leads pricing and contract terms and conditions negotiations.
- Leads purchase order reviews with legal, commercial, engineering and operations.
- Books project.
Pre-deployment Phase:
- Call and lead project kick off meeting.
- Prepare and manage pre-deployment schedule.
- Prepare and manage pre-deployment budget.
- Review and approve all project deliverables.
- Update customer on schedule and cost performance (SPI, CPI).
- Manage all customer changes through contractual change mechanism.
- Manage project billing, working closely with project accountant to collect charges, review and approve invoices.
- Lead project team to resolve all technical issues.
- Single point of contact for customer reporting on technical issues including non-conformances.
Execution Phase:
- Call and lead field readiness review with project team and senior BWXT and customer management.
- Prepare and manage execution schedule.
- Prepare and manage execution budget.
- Review and approve all project deliverables.
- Update customer on schedule and cost performance (SPI, CPI).
- Manage all customer changes through contractual change mechanism.
- Manage project billing, working closely with project accountant to collect charges, review and approve invoices.
- Lead project team to resolve all technical issues.
- Single point of contact for customer reporting on technical issues including non-conformances.
- Lead field trouble shooting teams to develop technical solutions to as found and non-conforming conditions.
Close-out Phase:
- Call and lead field lessons learned with project team and senior BWXT and customer management.
- Review and approve all project deliverables.
- Update customer on schedule and cost performance (SPI, CPI).
- Manage all customer changes through contractual change mechanism.
- Manage project billing, working closely with project accountant to collect charges, review and approve invoices.
- Ensure project is closed out as per contractual requirements.
Knowledge and Experience
- Post Secondary Education in Engineering or equivalent.10 to 15 years related experience.
- In-depth understanding of nuclear engineering principles, nuclear reactor operations, nuclear safety, radiation protection, etc.
- Experience managing large, complex nuclear projects related to plant construction, maintenance, decommissioning, waste management, etc.
- Knowledge of nuclear regulations, codes, and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership and people management skills to coordinate large teams.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, risks, and technical complexities.
- Expertise in nuclear quality assurance principles and procedures.
- Experience coordinating with regulatory bodies and oversight organizations.
- Knowledge of contracting, procurement, and supply chain issues specific to nuclear industry.
Security Clearance:
This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.

The base salary range for this position in Onatio at the start of employment is expected to be between $111,000 and $159,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
