Robotic Equipment Operator
Hourly rate: $42.15 – Fully Qualified (starts at Learner 1: $35.83/hr; Learner 2: $37.94/hr; Learner 3:
$40.04) Progression based on merit not hours.
We have opportunities for Robotic Equipment Operators to join our production team at our facility in CAMBRIDGE, ON. Each member of our team plays a critical role in BWXT Canada’s success and in ensuring we meet our customers’ quality, cost and delivery expectations.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
To set-up and operate robot welding.
TASKS:
-
Read and interpret Work Orders, Drawings, Shop Instruction Sheet (SIS), Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Weld and Rod Cards; plan and organize the Robotic Equipment Operator process; identify and verify workpiece material.

Manual welding to repair welds applied by robotic equipment operator to acceptable NDE standards.

Perform fitting tasks with use of calibrated jigs and fixtures or pre-established lay-out as required

Performs Stud welding operations.

Grinds welds applied by robotic equipment operators to NDE standards.

Set-up and perform helium leak test on applications where certification is not required.

Slings and/or transports tools, equipment, or materials by using overhead crane performing uncomplicated lifts to support own production.

Sets up and uses; preheat and purging equipment, welding shields, pliers, grinders, wire cutters, various small hand tools.

Calibrates equipment as required.

Cleans and aligns surfaces to be welded.

Prepares surfaces post welding for inspection and prepares surfaces for inspection.

Completes records and documentation as required.

Works in a safe manner. Demonstrates good workmanship and practices.

Keeps works areas clean and reverts to Utility or General Helper duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Successfully completion of an advanced welding program
-
Basic understanding of blueprints
-
Ability to perform manual welding and repairs to RT UT quality standards and in multiple processes, and;
-
Willingness to participate in, and complete a required company sponsored robotics courses upon acceptance of the role to maintain qualification.
OR
-
Successful completion of a related post-secondary Welding Robotics Program (i.e. Welding Engineering Technician – Robotics, Welding Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering Technology Welding & Robotics, etc.)

Basic understanding of blueprints
-
Successful completion of a manual welding pre-hire test (administered by BWXT), and;
-
Willingness to participate in, and complete, a company-sponsored manual welding skills development program, to obtain required RT/UT tickets to support robotic processes

Must be available to work any of the following shifts:
-
Days: 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Mon – Thurs) OR;
-
Afternoons: 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. (Mon – Thurs) OR;
-
Weekend days: 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours).

Weekend afternoons: 5:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)

The pay range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) is expected to be between $35.83 and $42.15 per hour. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
