About the Role
We are seeking a Project Controls Specialist – Intermediate to join our Cambridge, ON team. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will play a key role in project estimation, planning, scheduling, and cost management. Your expertise will ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting for high-impact projects, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Proposal Estimating: Develop labour and non-labour cost estimates, integrating materials, equipment, consumables, and other resources. Review scope with operating groups and define all cost estimate elements. Provide commercial support for proposals, including pricing analysis and cash flow projections.

  • Project Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project schedules aligned with estimates and stakeholder requirements. Utilize Primavera P6 (training provided if needed) to create resource-loaded schedules. Optimize project plans by balancing resource availability, activity sequencing, and critical path analysis.

  • Cost Management & Forecasting: Break down project budgets into detailed cost structures for accurate tracking and reporting. Prepare and analyze periodic project cost reports, including Earned Value analysis. Monitor actual costs versus estimates, identify cost variances, and provide forecasts to ensure financial control.

  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Develop and maintain internal and external project reports, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), cost, schedule status, and productivity metrics. Collect and integrate data from multiple sources, such as field reports and vendor updates, to provide a clear project status overview.

  • Change Management & Risk Analysis: Support project teams in managing scope changes, assessing cost and schedule impacts, and ensuring timely adjustments. Assist in risk assessments and mitigation strategies to proactively address potential project challenges.

  • Stakeholder Communication & Coordination: Work closely with Project Managers, Project Administration, Accounting, and Operational teams to ensure alignment and efficiency across all project phases. Support regular reporting cycles, customer reporting requirements, and financial forecasting activities.

 

What You Bring:

  • Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant technical or commercial field.

  • Experience: 5+ years of related project controls experience.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Primavera6, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with MS Visio and PowerBI is an asset.

  • Industry Knowledge: Sound understanding of PMI PMBOK, AACE principles, and the nuclear industry is a plus.

  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and technical writing proficiency.

 

Security Clearance:

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process.  The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.

The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[63,000]] and $[[98,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
