NDE Technical Specialist

 

We are currently recruiting for a NDE Technical Specialist for our Cambridge, Ontario facility.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

 

To be the on site technical expert for Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) preparing, reviewing and editing documents, procedures and contracts in accordance with customer requirements, and ASME and all other applicable codes and standards. 

 

JOB STRUCTURE:

 

This position reports to the Director, Quality, EHS & HPI with dotted line responsibility to the NDE Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

•    Review and approve NDE technical documentation for compliance with the applicable Code, Standard, Technical Specification and Purchase Order.
•    Author, review and/or approve NDE procedures, specifications, techniques and shop instructions.
•    Lead and/or participate in Continuous Improvement activities related to NDE applications, methods, equipment utilization, processes, procedures, reporting, etc.
•    Provide technical support, training, guidance, and mentoring to QC personnel.
•    Be the BWXT Subject Matter Expert on phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and automated ultrasonic testing (AUT) methods, techniques, and applications.
•    Act in an advisory capacity to provide analysis and assistance in resolving NDE technical and quality issues.
•    Be the back up to the NDE Manager, when necessary;
•    Support the NDE Manager as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

•    A minimum of a technical diploma from College.
•    A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the NDE field.
•    NDE Level III CGSB certification in MT, PT, UT and RT is desirable.  Minimum CGSB Level II certification in two or more disciplines is required.
•    Prior related EMC (Engineering, Materials and Components) sector NDE experience.
•    PAUT Level II certification (either CSWIP or PCN are acceptable) along with a minimum 1 year weldment testing experience.
•    Working knowledge of ASME codes related to NDE activities.
•    Excellent Microsoft Office suite computer skills
•    The successful candidate must commit to undergo training and obtaining certifications in CGSB 48.9712 Level III in 3 of either UT, RT, MT or PT methods within the first 5 years of employment.
