Manufacturing Engineering (weekend shift)


We are currently recruiting for Manufacturing Engineering (weekend shift) for our Cambridge, ON facility. 




Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering role will support shop activities on the weekend shift (SHIFT 31: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; 6:00am to 5:00pm; 3 X 11 but paid for 40 hours/week).




  • Develop, validate and support processes that facilitate the manufacturing of custom-engineered products according to quality and cost objectives.
  • Responsible for the design-for-manufacturability interface with Project Engineering.
  • Prepare, review, issue and maintain all shop instruction sheets.
  • Provide tooling, jigs and fixtures for use in the shop within allocated budget.
  • Coordinate tooling activities with the Supply Management department and vendors for tooling design and fabrication.
  • Provide technical guidance for operations and lead process validation projects.
  • Represent the Manufacturing Engineering department in regard to the formulation of all administrative procedures for the company.
  • Oversee pressure vessel component fabrication and generate fabrication outline.
  • Generate and/or review shop work orders (shop routing or travelers/work orders) and conduct shop readiness reviews.



  • Post-secondary engineering degree (Mechanical or Mechatronics disciplines preferred) OR a related engineering technology diploma.  Knowledge of welding processes is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Welding to ASME Section IX or AWS (American Welding Society) would be a definite asset.
  • Ability to validate tooling design and function using established engineering applications and methods.
  • Ability to use CAD programs such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks (SolidWorks is preferred).
  • Proven problem solving and organizational skills ideally developed through experience in a Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma working environment (can be replaced with a statistical background).
  • Strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Sound technical writing skills are required.  Reports will be provided to customers as well as internal staff members at various levels.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is energized within a fast-paced environment.
