Position Overview:

We have an opportunity for you to join our production team as a Maintenance Electrician at our Cambridge, Ontario facility. Each member of our team plays a critical role in BWXT Canada’s success and in ensuring we meet our customers’ quality, cost and delivery expectations. Our Maintenance Electricians maintain all property and equipment at the facility, including electrical and some mechanical repairs and will maintain the life of the equipment, minimize downtime, and ensure the safe and efficient operations of plant equipment.

Your Day to Day as a Maintenance Electrician:

  • Perform the duties of Site Electrician in a safe manner.
  • Repair electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain the life of the equipment and minimize downtime.
  • Participate in the installation and modification of equipment – electro-mechanical.
  • Provide preventative maintenance to limit slowdowns due to electric issues.
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance to production equipment as well as other services and utilities.
  • Communicate with the rest of the maintenance team and plant personnel when resolving problems.
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations and efficiencies.
  • Maintains electrical equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Prepares electrical maintenance reports.
  • Assist in project management of electrical contract work as required
  • Oversees and directs Maintenance Assistant and/or general helper as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven commitment to workplace safety.
  • Must possess a valid certificate of competency/license issued by the province of Ontario in the field of:
    •  “Construction and Maintenance (309A)” and/or
    • “Industrial Electrician (442A)” and/or
    • “Master Electrician”.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous work experience as Maintenance Electrician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have knowledge of plant safety policies and procedures including “Arc flash regulations”
  • Requires standing, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs. This includes above and below shoulder level.
  • Basic Computer Skills - MS Office components and Adobe Acrobat
  • Fundamental understanding of Preventative Maintenance Programs [CMMS]
  • Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot the following: 24 VDC, 110 and 480/600 3 Phase VAC electrical systems & PC/PLC Control Systems.
  • Ability to read electrical prints/schematics.
  • The ability to safely operate power / hand tools and all related safety equipment.
  • Must be available to work any of the following shifts:
    • Days: 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Mon – Thurs) OR.
    • Afternoons: 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. (Mon – Thurs) OR.
    • Weekend days: 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours) OR
    • Weekend afternoons: 5:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)

The pay range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON)  is expected to be between $48.36  and $48.36 per hour.  The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment and are subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
