Position Overview:
As our MES Technical Lead, IT you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of digital manufacturing and production information systems to meet evolving business needs. You will partner closely with internal stakeholders to gather and translate functional requirements into scalable solutions that enhance production capabilities and streamline business processes. In this hands-on role, you will drive process optimization initiatives, define target architectures, and oversee the development of control and testing procedures. You will also lead the implementation of new capabilities, support application consolidation and upgrades, guide data migration activities, and ensure systems are effectively configured to deliver operational value, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams and reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Technology, Commercial Operations.

Your Day to Day as our MES Technical Lead, IT:

  • Leading teams: Leading technical and functional teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • System configuration: Performing hands-on configuration in application modules.  Establish and enforce MES configuration standards, ensuring sustainable long-term system health.
  • Business requirement collection: Collecting, reviewing, and prioritizing business requirements.
  • System optimization: Recommending ways to optimize existing systems, and ensure harmonization with ERP, QMS, timekeeping, and other systems.
  • System design: Architecting and designing manufacturing solutions to meet business requirements, collaborating with infrastructure and network teams to ensure high availability and operational continuity.
  • Meeting facilitation: Facilitating meetings with stakeholders, project teams, and external partners.
  • Business process streamlining: Streamlining business processes to improve operational efficiency, ensuring alignment with both best practices and business requirements.
  • Problem diagnosis: Diagnosing, troubleshooting, resolving, and testing problems in production systems including SAP, MES, timekeeping systems, quality systems, and other production-centric information systems.
  • Security: Ensuring system security best practices are followed.
  • Data integrity: Promoting data integrity and solving data consistency issues.
  • Technical leadership: Providing technical leadership to project delivery teams.
  • Quality assurance: Ensuring the integrity of solutions through quality assurance practices.
  • Training: Training end-users on new processes and solutions.
  • Team management: Recruiting, developing, and mentoring team members.
  • External partner coordination: Coordinating and leading external partners and consultants.
  • Collaboration: Leading and working together in teams with differing needs towards a shared goal.
  • Project management: Demonstrating project leadership skills and techniques.

 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Direct hands-on experience with MES systems such as iBase-t Solumina required.
  • Strong understanding of MES best practices and how to maximize out-of-the-box capabilities before considering customizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • ERP, Timekeeping, and QMS systems knowledge preferred.
  • Experience capturing business requirements, developing solution designs, planning and conducting data migrations, information system harmonization, and portfolio shaping.
  • Strong understanding of project, portfolio, organizational change management, waterfall, and agile project management techniques.
  • Experience participating with a PMO, business steering committee, or similar.
  • Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills.
  • Excellent in preparing technical and executive level presentations and diagrams.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $90,000 and $140,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
