Position Overview

As our Human Resources Generalist, you will be a proactive, solutions-driven partner supporting both strategic and tactical HR initiatives. Working closely with the HR Manager and our Centers of Excellence, you will deliver impactful HR solutions that support employee engagement, operational effectiveness, and organizational success. This role represents a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact within BWXT Canada; advising employees and leaders, strengthening HR processes, and contributing to the ongoing evolution of our HR function.

 

Location: On-site in Cambridge, Ontario

 

Your Day to Day

  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints, support conflict resolution, and assist with dispute management, ensuring issues are escalated appropriately and resolved effectively.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, leave and disability management, career development, and employee relations best practices.
  • Facilitate exit interviews, analyze trends, and recommend proactive retention strategies.
  • Support labour relations activities, including collective agreement interpretation, grievance support, and advising leaders within unionized environments.
  • Collaborate with managers to review organizational design, evaluate team structures, clarify reporting relationships, and optimize workflow efficiencies.
  • Conduct span-of-control and workforce planning analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Review, update, and align job descriptions to evolving business needs.
  • Partner with hiring managers to assess job requirements, support workforce planning initiatives, and support Talent Acquisition (TA) activities as required, including recruitment coordination and job posting support.
  • Take initiative to identify HR process improvement opportunities and recommend innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and employee experience.
  • Support policy interpretation, compliance, grievance processes, and training delivery to employees and managers.
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret HR metrics, turnover, exit interviews, engagement indicators, to support data storytelling and strategic planning.
  • Participate in or lead HR system and software implementation projects, including HRIS enhancements and upgrades.
  • Promote self-service tools, process improvements, and change initiatives that drive HR efficiency and stakeholder engagement.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive HR generalist experience (manufacturing or industrial experience preferred).
  • International HR experience is considered an asset.
  • Expertise in employee relations, organizational design, and compliance with Ontario employment legislation.
  • Experience supporting HR projects, driving process improvements, and partnering with leadership teams.
  • Familiarity with collective agreements and labour relations (unionized environment experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and HR analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of ESA, OHSA, AODA, and the Human Rights Code.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • A proactive mindset with the confidence to lead initiatives from concept to implementation.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $74,000 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
