Position: Human Resources Coordinator
Location: Cambridge, Ontario
Reports To: Human Resources & Talent Acquisition Manager
What You’ll Do:
As a key member of our HR team, you’ll provide crucial support to employees and managers, ensuring that HR policies, processes, and programs run smoothly. From recruitment and onboarding to leave management and immigration support, you’ll have the chance to make a difference every day.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Employee & Manager Support: Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related inquiries, providing guidance or redirecting requests as needed. Educate employees on benefits, policies, procedures, and paid time off (PTO).

HR Documentation: Prepare and process documentation for fixed term employment contracts, transfers, promotions, salary adjustments, and employment verifications in HRIS/SAP.

Leave Management: Review and process leave of absence requests, including Pregnancy & Parental Leave, Family Medical Leave, and other statutory leaves. Maintain accurate records and communicate updates to managers and HRIS/Payroll.

Immigration Support: Track work permit expirations, monitor renewal timelines, and administer citizenship clearances for employees working on regulated projects.

Recruitment & Onboarding: Represent BWXT at career fairs, generate offer letters, and manage the requisition and approval process for unionized and non-union positions. Conduct new hire orientation and manage post-hire onboarding processes.

Pension & Benefits Support: Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries, coverage, enrollment, and eligibility. Support the Pension & Benefits Manager with routine processes.

HR Process Improvement & Compliance: Maintain HR work instructions and process documentation, support continuous improvement initiatives, and assist with HR transformation projects to enhance system functionality.
- Performance Management & Goal Setting: support the HR team with tracking and data analytics related to performance management , including goal setting, competency assessments, individual development and performance improvement plans

Special Projects & Additional Responsibilities: Organize BWXT’s annual employee holiday gift program, coordinate "Take Your Kid to Work Day," assist with leadership development training, and support the Indigenous Committees.

What We’re Looking For:
- A University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant HR experience.

Proven experience with HRIS systems, such as SAP, for managing HR processes and data.

Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—along with the ability to build effective relationships with employees and managers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and strong analytical skills.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

A customer-first mentality with the ability to respond to both internal and external requests promptly and professionally.
