Position Overview:
As our Human Performance Practitioner you will champion and strengthen a positive nuclear safety culture across the Cambridge Components and Owen Sound sites by driving the implementation of Human Performance (HuP) principles. You will coach, mentor, and influence employees at all levels to reinforce safe, performance-based behaviours, proactively addressing at-risk actions while promoting continuous improvement. Working closely with leadership, union and non-union staff, and cross-functional teams, you will provide guidance, feedback, and collaboration to ensure consistent application of HuP standards and the ongoing advancement of safety culture.

Your Day to Day as our Human Performance Practitioner:

  • Champion and promote a strong safety-conscious work environment by reinforcing positive safety culture behaviours across the site.
  • Lead and support the implementation of Human Performance and safety culture improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Partner with operations teams to analyze performance, identify gaps, and develop practical solutions that improve processes and outcomes.
  • Deliver training and coaching to employees and leaders on Human Performance principles and safety culture best practices, aligned with industry standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis, trending, and site assessments, driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support investigations, identify root causes, and implement human error reduction strategies.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to leaders and teams to address performance challenges, strengthen behaviours, and sustain a high standard of safety and compliance.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, behavioral sciences, education/training, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience in implementing safety culture or human performance initiatives.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in high-consequence work environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety throughout career, with familiarity or experience applying INPO 12-012 Traits of a Healthy Nuclear Safety Culture considered an asset.
  • Strong ability to influence, build relationships, and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Highly self-motivated, capable of working independently, with excellent time management, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including extended periods of standing and walking on the shop floor.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $118,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
