Position Overview:

 
As our Health and Safety Coordinator, you will promote a safe and compliant workplace by managing safety processes, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and SOPs. Reporting to the EHS Manager, you will support a culture of safety, innovation, and responsibility, ensuring high standards for employee well-being and environmental practices. You will make independent decisions within established policies and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Your Day to Day as Health & Safety Coordinator (6-month contract):  

 

  • Assist with Health and Safety duties to enhance workplace safety practices.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering knowledge / experience is an asset to assist in the Organize and update Equipment safety administrative processes, including:
    • Developing or updating Lockout/Tagout procedures and placards.
    • Reviewing current Equipment Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy.
    • Updating Health and Safety equipment processes and procedures.
  • Conduct reviews of the EHS process to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and observations of our manufacturing site.
  • Assist in creating and generating safety communications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • The EHS Coordinator is responsible for the System Administrator function for the Gensuite application, addressing issues with access and usage, and other required trouble shooting, generating and distributing reports.
  • Administrative support as required to ensure efficient operation of the EHS team.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Educational background in Environmental Occupational Health and Safety (or a related field).
  • Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering considered an asset.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for health and safety, with a proactive approach to learning and personal development.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $50,000 and $69,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
