We are seeking a skilled Financial Analyst with a strong background in manufacturing finance to join our team in Cambridge, ON.

 

This role plays a critical part in supporting our Manufacturing, Engineering, and Project Management functions within the Commercial Operations segment. You will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis, helping drive strategic decision-making and cost efficiency across the organization.  Reporting to the Manager, Project Accounting, this position will collaborate closely with department leaders, business unit VPs, and auditors—both internal and external—to ensure compliance with financial policies and support data-driven business planning.

 

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Prepare and post journal entries in alignment with US GAAP and internal policies.

  • Develop monthly reporting packages for manufacturing cost centers, including variance analysis and commentary.

  • Investigate financial discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Provide accurate financial forecasts for the current quarter and fiscal year, highlighting risks and opportunities.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Partner with cost center managers to develop detailed budgets and rolling forecasts for current and future fiscal years.

  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis (e.g., actual vs. budgeted hours, headcount efficiency) to support production planning and capacity management.

  • Calculate and maintain annual labor and overhead rates used in project costing and pricing proposals.

  • Analyze fixed and variable costs to support optimization efforts and inform financial planning.

Cost Management & Inventory

  • Monitor inventory balances, material costs, and work-in-progress to ensure financial accuracy and identify cost improvement opportunities.

  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing operational costs through structured financial analysis.

Capital Planning

  • Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure plans by analyzing investment proposals and aligning spending with business priorities.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate project feasibility and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

Compliance & Reconciliation

  • Perform regular balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Support internal controls and SOX compliance through documentation and audit preparedness.

  • Liaise with internal and external auditors during audits, providing documentation and clarifications as needed.

Ad-Hoc Analysis

  • Deliver financial models and scenario analyses to support business decisions.

  • Provide data-driven insights to senior leadership to support operational planning and long-term cost strategies.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred (or actively pursuing).

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, financial modeling and data visualization.

  • Experience with SAP is considered a strong asset.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving in a fast-paced environment.

The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[82,000]] and $[[126,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
