Position Overview:
As our Continuous Improvement and Lean Specialist you will lead the implementation and sustainment of lean methodologies across our manufacturing operations. You will partner with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, optimize processes, and drive efficiency and productivity. In this role, you will develop and deploy lean initiatives, deliver training and coaching to employees at all levels, and track key performance indicators to measure progress and ensure ongoing improvement. You will also collaborate across the Components business to promote and embed a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking, using influence rather than direct authority to achieve organizational goals.

Your Day to Day as our Continuous Improvement & Lean Specialist:     

  • Lead, manage, or implement projects aimed at boosting production efficiencies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), with a focus on OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) striving to standardize these metrics for long-term success.
  • Conduct process flow analysis, material flow analysis, establish and use the required value stream maps to identify and address bottlenecks, to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
  • Document process improvements, track results, and report on the success of Lean initiatives to stakeholders within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor trends and implement process Improvements to drive sustainable change.
  • Foster a culture of Lean thinking among employees and their leaders.
  • Provide comprehensive training and coaching on Lean Methodologies to empower our workforce.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical Engineering, complemented with 10 years of experience in the manufacturing sector.
  • Lean Manufacturing/Engineering certificate and a Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and operations within the nuclear industry, including knowledge of machinery, equipment, and production techniques.
  • Proven experience in implementing Lean methodologies and process improvement programs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation, creativity, and employee involvement in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Strong understanding of key performance indicators and their significance in driving continuous improvement.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively train and coach team members.
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams, including production, engineering, quality assurance, suppliers, and customers to promote a Lean culture.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,000 and $129,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
