Primary Responsibility
The Unit Manager - Shop Floor Quality Engineering is responsible to implement and maintain the quality programs and systems for government manufacturing at the NOG-B facility in compliance with the requirements of ISO-9001 2008 and all customer required Quality specifications. This position is responsible for specific Quality focus on the shop floor, management of shop floor and backshift Quality Engineers and upgrade within the Quality Management Department. Additional primary responsibilities include, shop Quality issue trending, implementation of sustainable corrective and preventive actions, development of improved Manufacturing and Quality processing for products produced at NOG-B.
Representative Responsibilities
- Work with other Quality Unit Managers to maintain required staffing for shop floor and back shift Quality Engineering and upgrade to support facility work volume.
- Provide Shop Floor Quality Management support for new product design contracts.
- Support and structure work priorities for backshift Quality Engineers.
- Development of shop floor and Quality Systems innovations and improvements to promote acceptable product Quality and improved process efficiencies.
- Development of Quality shop floor metrics reporting and support of shop floor Supervision efforts to improve shop performance.
- Support training activities to aid with improved efficiencies related to shop floor personnel development and performance monitoring.
- Aid with Corrective/Preventive action (CAPA) system oversight management and improved performance.
- Management of Shop Quality procedures such as 12-1-CLN-1, 12-1-CLN-3, 12-1-MR-1 etc. with oversight of established procedure owners and ongoing training.
- Work with other Quality Unit Managers to manage and control budget expenses.
- Support Operational Assurance internal auditing program and vendor surveillance and audit program.
- Participates and/or coordinates in the resolution of quality issues and interpretation of quality requirements.
- Serves as the primary interface with customer and government representatives on quality issues.
- Develops man-hour estimates as needed to support contract proposals.
- Aids other Unit Managers to ensure that as-sold hour goals are achieved.
- Responsible to ensure that all employees comply with all safety policies and requirements.
- Responsible to ensure that all employees comply with procedures, work instructions and technical procedures to achieve contract compliance.
