UT Testing Tech (weekend shift) - BWX Technologies, Inc.  -  Barberton, OH


Responsibilities include:  

  • Prepares detailed test report data such as sketches, test reports, and reports of inspection to provide detailed documentation of results.
  • Performs visual inspections of surfaces to be examined to determine suitability for testing.
  • Support shop in proper location for removal of ultrasonic and radiographic indications.
  • Assists supervision in performing evaluations and developing new testing techniques and methods.
  • Performs automated eddy current inspections utilizing computerized eddy current data acquisition systems.  Responsible for set up and alignment of component.  Programming of the computer to interface with robot and setting of tool dimensions is also necessary.  Also responsible for analysis of eddy current inspection data.
  • Perform general maintenance, instrument linearity, and minor repairs on ultrasonic instruments.  This duty requires knowledge of electronics and ability to read schematics, technical manual, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing/Planning personnel on overtime and work schedules needed to support shop operations.
  • Maintains inventory of department supplies.
  • Responsible for expediting the shipping or delivery of calibration blocks and parts from the department.
  • Responsible for turning in work orders for maintenance repairs.
  • Performs re-inspections and audits of test personnel and UT Test Examiner duties.


Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum Associates Degree in technical field or relevant equivalent work experience of 4 years.
  • Must be capable of qualifying as a Level II in Ultrasonic and Leak Testing in accordance with requirements of American Society for Non‑Destructive Testing SNT‑TC‑1A for inspection of weldments and base materials. 
  • Must be capable of qualifying as an inspector operator for Navy specifications NAVSEA 250-1500-1 for welds and MIL-Std 2132 and MIL-Std 410.




Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
