Project Manager Operational Development - BWX Technologies, Inc.  - Barberton, Ohio

 

The Project Manager of Operational Development role is available for the Nuclear Operations Group facility in Barberton, Ohio. This key role is responsible for facilitating progress on Operations based Cost/Span/Technology ‘MoVE’ projects driving both near-term schedule recovery and longer-term production efficiencies.  Role is deeply embedded in core functional areas of Operations, E&TS, Planning, and other support areas, working closely with senior site leadership to develop new and creative ways to improve OEE and increase shop efficiencies.

 

General Profile

  • Recognizes opportunities for operational/process improvement and develops ‘MoVE’ projects to address through new technologies, data driven solutions, and collaboration
  • Requires in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in manufacturing engineering and basic knowledge of shop floor front line management and other disciplines
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from manager and operations
  • Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems that impact effectiveness
  • Applies understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance and influence processes and policies
  • Impacts the level of service and the team’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives
  • Works constructively with professional employees and supervisors/superintendents

Essential Functions

  • Leads team supporting Cost/Span/Technology activities and personnel to ensure timely progress on ‘MoVE’ projects
  • Directs operational development initiatives driving schedule performance across product lines, including near term delivery challenges and longer-term production bottlenecks/inefficiencies through close collaboration with Operations, E&TS, Planning, and supporting departments.
  • Plans for future operations and verify operation, engineering, and tooling readiness.
  • Develops tools to facilitate communication between operations and engineering
  • Track and trend operational efficiency
  • Identify operations/processes with poor efficiency and resolve issues leading to the inefficiency
  • Communicate efficiency trends and changes to meet operational goals

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Prior experience with manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or shop floor supervision desired.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with developing, delivering, and maintaining training activities.
  • Excellent organization and program management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is desired.

Education/Certifications, Experience, etc.

Requires 4 years completed college (e.g. BS or 2 + 2) or technical school equivalent and/or, typically, 10+ years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience and 3+ years of team management experience

The hourly rate for this position in <> at the start of employment is expected to be between $<> and $<> per hour.  The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
