NDE Examiner - BWX Technologies, Inc.  -  Barberton, OH

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Technical lead over all aspects of UT/MT/PT/VT/ET
  • Support, lead, and provide direction to assure compliance in all on-site and vendor NDE activity.
  • Champion the technical aspects of the Examiner program growth and development.
  • To evaluate new non-destructive examination requirements and specifications imposed by the customer to determine the effectiveness of fulfilling the intended requirements.
  • Represent the company during contract negotiations and technical discussions with customers concerning NDE capabilities, reliability and technical problems.
  • Assist production personnel in solving NDE related issues with primary emphasis on special technology and new techniques.
  • Able to perform NDE inspections using one or more of the following NDE disciplines, RT, MT, PT, UT, VT, and ET.
  • Plans and develops activities and procedures suitable to accomplish tasks related to his area of responsibility.
  • Keeps informed of division production plans and their relationship to the criticality and uniqueness of upcoming NDE operations.
  • Provide oversight and surveillance of shop floor personnel concerning NDE compliance.
  • Communicates regularly with customer technical representatives on information they may require. Frequent contact with other departments and other section of the QA department at all levels.
  • Maintains constant communications with members of all program teams to assure swift and appropriate resolution of product NDE problems.  Required to have a thorough understanding of all customer and company requirements in order to interpret and verify that activities throughout the NDE department are compliant.
  • Performs technical and statistical investigations into NDE issues with the objective of first time quality and reduction of manufacturing losses.
  • Reviews and prepares comments to QA specifications in conjunction with preparation of contract proposals.
  • Traveling to material vendors to support NDE source inspection.
  • Assists in training other NDE personnel as required.
  • Maintain NDE certification program for the facility.
  • Provide NDE training as needed for the facility.
  • Maintain training program materials.
  • Suspend shop floor personnel certifications as needed.

     

    Job Qualifications / Requirements:

 

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in technical field or relevant equivalent work experience of 12 years.
  • Prior knowledge of NDE Engineering with an emphasis on RT/MT/PT/VT/UT/ET.
  • Strong preference for candidates with NDE Level III certifications in one of more of following disciplines: RT, MT, PT, VT, UT, ET.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain Examiner status in UT within the first year of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain DOE Confidential clearance and maintain.  Must be a US citizen (no dual citizenship)

Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
