Materials Engineer    -   BWX Technologies, Inc. -   Barberton, Ohio 


Responsibilities include:


  • Performs Materials Engineer duties in support of the procurement of raw material commodities, tubing, forgings, machining, welding materials, and/or services. 
  • Reviews and interprets customer technical specifications and requirements and assists in development of procurement technical packages.
  • Verifies the suppliers' proposals, processing, procedures and delivered product are adequate and meet technical ordering requirements. Expected to learn and become expert in supplier's methods and processes relevant to product quality.
  • Participates in supplier audits, surveillance and witnessing of operations at suppliers. Works with Purchasing, Quality and other Engineering Disciplines to develop and qualify new suppliers. Extensive travel not required, but opportunities do exist to participate in extensive technical oversight of some suppliers (foreign and domestic).
  • Develops Bills of Material for new projects, and assists with the development of material cost and level-of-effort estimates in support of proposals.
  • Supports plant manufacturing operations by providing technical leadership and expertise and assisting in the disposition of nonconformities.


Job Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Qualified candidates must possess a B.S. in Metallurgy, Material Science or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of work experience is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship, capable of receiving a DOE security clearance.



Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
