Sr. Process Engineer - Machining  -  BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio


The purpose of this position is to provide and document technical knowledge for machining operations during the development of new work scopes and to capture critical process information for executing re-occurring work. The Technical Lead will manage development efforts and data collection amongst a group of technical specialists and work directly with Machining Operations, NC Programming and other Engineering Support groups to prepare robust machining processes, troubleshoot equipment, and document standard practices in the machining department.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Resolve operational challenges; generate tooling, fixturing, and setup layouts; generate other supporting documentation for consistent execution of machining operations.
  • Perform technical studies and analysis to reduce defects, spans, and improve hardware quality.
  • Support shop floor via troubleshooting activities to assure minimal deviations and downtime.
  • Participate in R&D projects by providing technical support and oversight of data collection for evaluating new tooling and equipment.
  • Assist in technical training of new hires and documenting training programs.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to document the steps of the manufacturing process and develop in-process quality verifications.
  • Supervise the activities of the Machining Technical Specialists.
  • Is accountable for the performance and results of multiple team members and has the ability to recommend staffing needs.


Job Qualifications:


  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology with 4-6 year’s of experience
  • Degrees in Business in combination with previous machining leadership experience considered
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in machining may substitute for a degree
  • Experience with G&M code programming, tool selection, and designing machining setups is required
  • Siemens NX and CAD experience is preferred
  • Strong verbal and technical writing skills
