Position Overview:

 

The Insurance Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of workers’ compensation, auto, general liability, and property claims for the organization. This role includes a specialized focus on Ohio workers’ compensation, ensuring compliance as a self-insured employer under the requirements of the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC). The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and effective partnership with third-party administrators (TPAs), internal safety personnel, and other stakeholders.

Your Day to Day as an Insurance Claims Manager:

  • Manage the end-to-end claims process for workers’ compensation, auto, general liability, and property claims.
  • Coordinate and monitor claim activities handled by external TPAs, ensuring timely and accurate claim resolution.
  • Oversee Ohio workers’ compensation programs, focusing on compliance with BWC regulations for self-insured employers.
  • Maintain required documentation, reporting, and filing standards associated with the Ohio BWC and other regulatory bodies.

  • Analyze claims data to identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities for risk reduction.
  • Partner with internal safety teams to support incident investigations, return-to-work programs, and injury prevention efforts.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with TPAs, insurance carriers, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance to operational leaders on claims processes, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support settlement strategies, and financial reporting related to claim activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in claims management workflows, communication, and compliance.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least three years of experience in insurance claims management, including workers’ compensation. 
  • Direct knowledge of Ohio workers’ compensation regulations and self-insured program requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with TPAs and coordinating claim resolutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret claims and safety data.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and vendor-management abilities.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and familiarity with claims management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with stakeholders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.

Pay: $70,000 - $103,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $70,000 and $103,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
