BWXT is currently seeking an Onsite IT System Administrator for its Barberton, OH location!
The responsibilities of the IT System Administrator role include the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of information systems and technology solutions in support of the various BWXT business units. A successful candidate will need the ability to troubleshoot complex problems and remain current with new technology developments and cyber security requirements. This position must develop and maintain good working relationships, resolve problems, and positively influence others to successfully produce customer satisfaction. This role requires after hours support as needed for managing critical issues.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Performs patch management tasks include maintaining current knowledge of available patches, deciding what patches are appropriate for particular systems, ensuring that patches are installed properly, testing systems after installation, and documenting all associated procedures.
- Recommends and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the vulnerability patch management systems including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
- Works with the IT Operations and Cyber Security management to determine system security direction for the sensitive network environment, including the evaluation and testing of new cyber security trends.
- Modifies, develops, and implements automated deployments of enterprise-wide software applications utilizing industry standards and best practices.
- Develops and maintains work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and system security plans relating to sensitive network environments.
- Administers vulnerability scans and performs vulnerability remediation.
- Completes audit tasks to ensure secure systems and management oversight is performed to meet SOX and customer audit commitments.
- Minimizes equipment failures through proper design/setup of standardized desktop systems and processes.
- Plans and executes user system refreshes.
- Leads small projects as assigned from beginning to end.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of IT related experience OR a high school diploma or equivalent plus 8 years of IT related experience.
- Ability to identify, research, and resolve desktop system issues in a timely manner.
- Experience in PC imaging, software package creation/deployment, or vulnerability remediation.
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting industrial control systems.
- Proficient in Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange.
- Practical knowledge of vulnerability scanning software such as Tenable.
- Practical knowledge of monitoring software such as Splunk.
- Practical knowledge of endpoint management tools such as Ivanti or SCCM.
- Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under limited degree of supervision.
- Ability to serve as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Superb customer service skills.
- Must a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

Pay: $64,000 - $101,000
The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000 and $101,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
