A Day in the Life
This position involves replacement of parts, thermostats, Freon gas, hydraulic acid filters, oil, detergents, adhesive, filters, and other products and materials necessary to keep the site’s systems properly maintained, inspected, cleaned, and repaired.  Additionally, daily duties could involve servicing of small package boilers, large industrial oil chillers, large gas-fired heaters (5-10MBtu) and applicable flame safety controls, split-system air conditioning systems, and/or large office HVAC systems.

 

Specific tasks may include:

  • Working from schematic diagrams, as well as both written and verbal instructions
  • Testing for leaks and observing gages
  • Cleaning and lubricating units
  • Using dryers to remove moisture when necessary
  • Acid cleaning of coils
  • Making efficiency adjustment of equipment
  • Diagnosis and repair of HVAC systems and controls
  • Installation of replacement parts, including compressors and electrostatic filters
  • Calibrating and replacing thermostats
  • Repairing pumps and compressors
  • Changing of fuses
  • Performance of incidental wiring and electrical diagnosis/repair
  • Connection of necessary piping and tubing when repairing or maintaining units
  • Connecting and disconnecting unions, brazing, sweating, and silver soldering as needed
  • Replacing valves, connecting rods and other parts as needed
  • Connecting and disconnecting wiring on motors; bolts and unbolts, removing and reinstalling motors
  • Reports present or developing difficulties as encountered; advises supervisor or clerk of parts required

 

Requirements
In order to thrive in this role, applicants must possess the skills necessary to safely and effectively perform the required duties.  This includes:

  • Successful completion of a 2-Year HVAC program (will be verified).  A high school diploma or GED coupled with successful completion of a registered apprenticeship under a qualified journeyman is acceptable in lieu of this requirement.
  • A minimum of five (5) years direct experience performing HVAC maintenance and repair
  • EPA 40 CFR (Universal) certification
  • U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship
  • Must be open and available to working all shifts
  • Must possess skills necessary for completion of required paperwork
  • Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment processes, which includes a thorough background check, education verification, reference checks, drug screen, and pre-employment physical examination
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to climb
  • Ability to pass all certification tests and attend required training

 

Preferred Qualifications
 
The following additional qualifications are preferred, but not required:

  • Experience with large industrial oil chillers
  • Experience with large gas fired heaters (5-10 MBtu) and applicable flame safety controls
  • Experience with split-system air conditioning systems
  • Electrical experience -- 480v Max.
  • Experience with large office HVAC systems
  • ESCO and/or NATE certification(s)

Please note: Pay for this position is $35.993 per hour with a generous complementary benefits package.  Upon an offer, relocatioin package is available for eligible candidates.
