Front Line Manager - Fabrication / Welding - 2nd shift  - BWX Technologies, Inc.  - Barberton, Ohio

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Plans, directs and coordinates assigned activities.  Exercises jurisdiction over skilled occupations which may include machine operators, assemblers, fitters, welders... etc. performing work on product component parts or sub‑assemblies depending on shop assignment.  May supervise robotic applications and workcells.
  • Moves from one shift or shop to another as required or assigned
  • Inputs data via computer systems for such activities as maintenance work orders, hourly employee time charging records, and production/scheduling systems.
  • Recommends improvements in shop operating procedures, policies and processes, and may recommend the acquisition of additional or new equipment and machinery when costs and production problems dictate.
  • Administers the bargaining unit agreement, transfers, training of subordinates and recommending workforce changes, including discharges. Performs other miscellaneous functions that are common responsibilities of all supervisory personnel.

 

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a union environment.
  • Prefer experience in heavy fabrication, fitting and welding.
  • Must possess good leadership and communications skills.
  • Must be available for scheduled overtime.
