Position Overview:

As the Engineering and Technical Services (E&TS) Manager, you will plan, prioritize, organize, direct, and control activities for the Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Weld Engineering, and Tooling Engineering resources, ensuring that appropriate regulations, codes, and standards are followed in the execution of engineering work. This position will report into the Deputy General Manager.

Your Day to Day as the Engineering and Technical Services Manager

  • Managing and controlling the preparation of detailed manufacturing processing required to fabricate complex, regulated, and high-consequence products.
  • Assuring the development and review of standards and procedures, ensuring that proper approvals have been obtained prior to implementation; ensuring recommended changes are appropriately justified and are consistent with customer requirements.
  • Reviewing designs for feasibility and practicality from a manufacturing standpoint; directing development and implementation of techniques to minimize the risk of loss of product; implementing changes necessary to meet quality and technical requirements for better practical, efficient, and economic fabrication methods.
  • Directing and reviewing audit plans and assuring that proper corrective action is taken if deficiencies are noted.
  • Developing and submitting, for customer approval or internal use, documents which are required to begin manufacturing; providing necessary documentation and procedures to fix, repair, or otherwise dispose of deviated components; maintaining up-to-date technical requirements for all contracts; monitoring and reporting on the submission of all technical documents.
  • Participating as an effective member of the senior management team, representing the site location at external events and with the customer.
  • Ensuring that effective liaison and interfaces are being maintained between Engineering and Quality Control functions and Shop Operations, Project Management, and Production Control to confirm the fabrication of components meets all contractual requirements.
  • Ensuring continuous improvement of external and internal customer satisfaction through increased responsiveness, communication, and on-time delivery of products and services meeting all quality requirements.
  • Work closely with the Operations Excellence department (Lean / Six Sigma) for implementation, growth, and effective utilization of Lean Six Sigma principles and activities within the department while promoting the same with the Division.
  • Assisting the General Manager in the development of strategic and operational plans.
  • Overseeing development of technical personnel to prepare them for assignments of greater responsibility.
  • Monitoring engineering staffing requirements.  Recommending staffing and training adjustments, as needed, to meet future business needs.
  • Monitoring the technology and training needs of assigned personnel and adjusting as needed to ensure they continue to meet engineering’s requirements.
  • Responsible for department P&L.
  • Oversee the engineering work load and load boards, plan the budgets and staffing headcount, oversee interviewing, and assure hiring targets are met.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Previous management experience
  • A P.E. license and/or an advanced degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience within the Defense industry and/or discreet manufacturing is a plus.

Pay: $132,000 - $203,000

 

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $132,000 and $203,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
