Dimensional Inspector  -  BWX Technologies, Inc  -  Barberton, OH

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • This position works from a variety of written instruction such as PMO's, PO's, packing slips, heat reports, and shop manufacturing plans to make any and all types of inspections.
  • These inspections include but are not limited to the inspection of raw material, machine set up, layout, in process and final inspections on any and all materials, products and component parts. Accepts or rejects a wide variety of products, equipment, material and tooling.
  • Responsible for approving or rejecting based on acceptance criteria, makes sketches, complete inspection forms, uncrates material from boxes, physically inspects product, inspecting for identification, grade, type, physical condition, finish, clean, configuration and dimensions as required, interprets blueprints, and printed material descriptions of any complexity.
  • The tools and equipment used to perform the inspections are not limited to precision measuring equipment including measurement standards, gages, air gaging equipment, optical comparators, concentricity gages, surface plates, computerized inspection equipment, CRT's, metal monitoring equipment or etch kits, hammers, pry bars, files, jib crane, overhead crane, hand truck, fork truck, ladder and other similar tools and equipment necessary for the fulfillment of the job duties.
  • Applicant must pass Quality Control tests as required. Applicant must be able to intelligently convey the results of inspections to shop supervision, engineers and/or customer representatives. Applicant may be required to maintain alloy identity qualification along with visual and dimensional qualifications.

 

 

Job Qualifications / Requirements

 

  • A minimum of 5 years' inspection experience is required, some of which can be as a machinist or tool maker. Lesser experience coupled with formal training and/or previous certifications may be acceptable.
  • Must be able to perform mathematical calculations to validate/verify dimensional relationships (calculating trigonometry). Read and interpret complex blue prints and have a thorough understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Be able to interpret and follow detailed written work instructions and complete visual inspections using a variety of inspection tools including Mics, Calipers, Thread Gages, Indicators, Optical Comparators and other specialty inspection tools.
  • Candidate must communicate effectively with co-workers and have the willingness to take direction from shop supervision.
  • High School diploma/GED is required for all BWXT positions and graduation date (or date received GED) will be verified during the required pre-employment background screen.
  • Must be able to work ANY SHIFT.
  • Must be a US CITIZEN. Must not hold a Dual Citizenship.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check prior to hire date.

 

Pay for this position is up to $29.79 per hour and is complimented by a generous benefits package.
