CMS Laser Tracker Technician  -  BWX Technologies, Inc  -  Barberton, OH



Job Description:

  • Performs 3D dimensional inspections of large pressure vessels and steam generating equipment.
  • Uses Laser Trackers, Articulated Arms CMM's, CMM's, and PolyWorks Metrology Software.
  • Upon completion of a training and qualification program, candidates will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing inspections. In addition, candidates will perform analysis of inspection data and prepare reports of results.
  • Determine acceptability of product to customer requirements.




  • Candidates must have a working knowledge of mechanical drawings and blueprint reading along with knowledge of the ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards and practices.
  • Strong 3D visualization skills and some experience with 3-D CAD/Modeling are required.
  • Previous experience using Laser Tracker, Articulated Arm CMM’s or Traditional CMM’s is desired.
  • Experience with traditional measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages a plus.
  • Must possess good math, geometry, and analysis skills and should be proficient the MS Excel and Word.
  • Candidate must be willing to perform hands on work in a manufacturing environment including working inside of confined spaces and from heights.
  • Will be required to pass a qualification exam upon completion of training
