We are currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the role of CNC Lathe Operator at our facility in Barberton, Ohio.  The Lathe Operator will set up and operate manual and CNC-controlled lathes to produce a wide variety of properly machined nuclear, fossil, and specialty products.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Perform any and all operations such as turning, boring, facing, threading, drilling, reaming, tapping, etc.  May be required to run two machines simultaneously.
  • Establishes zero reference point manually or automatically and dials manual data into control console; checks out tape program and verifies accuracy.
  • Makes in-process compensation and works to .000” tolerance.
  • Edits program as necessary.
  • Changes machine over for either bar feed or chuck operation.
  • Flushes servo oil system as required and checks way oil gauge.
  • Reports machine malfunctions and tape program inconsistencies to responsible authorities.
  • Maintains necessary records in accordance with customer and code requirements.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ machining experience, preferably in a medium-to-heavy manufacturing environment, is preferred
  • Must be able to read, understand and use tape manuscripts, set up sheets, tapes, prints, and both written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to use chucks, collets, jigs, fixtures, all types of tool-holding devices, and light hand tools necessary for completion of job duties.
  • Must demonstrate ability to use and set up measuring instruments, such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Must ensure compliance with environmental health and safety policies.
  • Must be able to keep detailed records.
  • Must be willing to learn and be assisted by other operators on proper operational procedures.
  • Must be willing and able to perform housekeeping and other job related duties as assigned.
  • Must demonstrate above skills by passing written and practical tests.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic, and caustic chemicals and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal noise levels to loud.


Please note: This is a third shift position.  Pay for this position is up to $28.53 per hour and is complemented by a generous benefits package.
