CMS Laser Tracker Technician  -  BWX Technologies, Inc  -  Barberton, OH

  • Setup and operate Faro and Leica Laser Trackers as well as Creaform Handy Scan and Metra Scan systems to perform high accuracy 3-D inspections and reverse engineering projects.
  • Utilize ASME Y14.5 GD & T standards to interpret inspection requirements from conventional drawings and 3D models.
  • Perform field checks and compensations and maintain metrology equipment to manufacture and internal procedures.
  • Develop, plan, program, and documents large inspection processes for large scale components requiring multiple measurement devices.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections on large fabricated and machined components.
  • Create detailed inspection reports and communicate results with engineers, machinists, quality personnel, and our customer.
  • Documents procedures and best practices and aid in the training of other newer technicians.
  • After training and on the job experience has been completed candidates will be required to pass a qualification examination required by MIL-STD-2132 Level 1, or Level 2 Dimensional Inspection requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum A.S. degree in technical field.
  •  Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Good 3-D visualization skills with CAD or 3D Modeling software with a preference for Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
  • Candidate must have a working knowledge of mechanical drawings and blueprint reading along with an understanding of the ASME Y14.5 GD&T standard.
  • Previous experience with 3D Inspection Metrology software such as PolyWorks, Spatial Analyzer, Verisurf, or CAM2 Measure. Polywork preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of at least one of the following types of inspection systems: Leica and Faro Laser Trackers, Creaform Handy Scan and Metrascan systems, or programming and operation of conventional CMM. Renishaw UCC server based preferred.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment with other technicians and team member and independently at times with minimal supervision in a shop environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and written/verbal communication.

Additional Skills Required:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacture environment high desired.
  • Ability to lift or move equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Work from elevated platforms, lifts, and large machinery platforms up to 25ft.
  • Climb ladders and industrial steps.
  • Perform work inside of confined spaces.
  • Excellent computer skills including the use Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer and equipment issues.
